Order Queue

Learn about one of Route Planner's most powerful features for order management and routing

Updated over a week ago

Overview

The Order Queue holds all orders that are not yet scheduled on a route. From here, you review details and place orders onto a route so they can be fulfilled by a driver. Orders can be added manually, through our email ingester, or through and integration with your ERP/TMS, and when added, they'll show up in the Order Queue, ready to be placed onto routes.

What you see

  • Order row with key fields: pickup, drop-off, tags, and an Order/PO/B#.

  • Status indicating whether the order is unscheduled (in the queue) or already placed on a route.

  • Detail panel (when expanded) to verify addresses and notes before scheduling.

How to place orders on a route

  1. Open Order Queue.

  2. Drag and drop the order onto a route in Planner (Kanban/Map/Calendar).

  3. Save the route. The order leaves the queue and appears on that route’s stop list.

Tip: Use auto-assignment when available to place multiple orders quickly.

Finding and reviewing orders

  • Use search and filters to locate orders by Order/PO/B# or tags.

  • Expand an order to confirm the pickup and drop-off details before scheduling.

Adjusting after placement

  • Need to change the plan? Open the route in Planner to reorder, move, or remove the stop.

  • Removing an order from a route returns it to Order Queue.

Common tasks

  • Pre-check orders in the morning to ensure addresses and tags look right.

  • Stage unscheduled orders throughout the day and place them as trucks free up.

  • Clean up any stragglers at end-of-day by assigning or deferring them.

Troubleshooting & Caveats

  • Order not in the queue: Confirm it exists on Orders (via ERP/email/CSV/manual add) and isn’t already on a route.

  • Duplicates: If you can't add an order, ensure the Order # is unique.

  • Wrong address or tag: Edit the order on Orders first, then place it from the queue.
