Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is not a fuel additive but a non-hazardous solution that never comes in contact with diesel fuel. DEF is sprayed into the exhaust stream of diesel vehicles to break down dangerous Nitrogen Oxide emissions into harmless nitrogen and water.

How do I know if my truck needs DEF fluid?

  1. At 5%, you will see an alert on your dash in the form of the DEF light.

  2. If your DEF drops below 2.5%, the light will be a solid amber.

  3. If you decide to ignore it and DEF runs out completely, the light will glow solid red. The truck WILL NOT exceed 5 MPH until more DEF is added.

DEF levels are optimal when the tank is at least half-filled.

  1. If below the half mark, please stop at the nearest gas station where DEF is sold.

  2. Use your Curri Gas Card to purchase DEF fluid.

  3. If you don’t have a Curri gas card, pay for the DEF and send in a receipt to Curri for reimbursement.

    1. If you don’t have the money to cover a DEF purchase, please put in a request with Curri. If confirmed, we’ll send a small amount for a DEF refill. Be sure to send in a picture of the receipt!

  4. Do Not fill to Max levels (over-dosing can occur if too much DEF is added).

    1. This can cause crystallized deposits to enter the exhaust or injector nozzle.

      1. This can also stem from plugged DEF lines or DEF pump issues.

Remember to always be on the safe side. DEF should be replaced every third or fourth time you fill up!
